Animation Evaluation

This is my e-sting (E4 idents stop motion animation media text) which I produced.

Drag Race

Constants
As I am aware of the legal issues for Ofcom and the regulator, there isn't any brand or another copy right issue in the scene. There is one, which is E4's logo but on the guideline of the E4 competition we are allowed to used it. However the difficulty is on the filming which is using a human as a controlling Muppet, as they are always moving over the limit of the action and also do not always do what you exactly want. Even though there is a way, which is setting them up picture by picture but it will take too much time and wouldn't meet the deadline. Time available of the actor is also a big issue for the live action animation as we have to wait for the persons availability to film, which can be a waste of time.
Location in this scene is in college but during lesson time so there are not many students or staff using the path way, however unluckily during the filming time there is a person visiting the college and I had to wait for them to leave the path way which wasted time.

Management
At first I decided to use the idea of a guy wearing a suit, creepily following a girl but the scene is set at night and it's to dark to see the action even though I used DSLR camera and put The ISO on 6400. So instantly I quickly came up with another idea but completely forget about the unbelievable animation part and had to re-film again. Then I thought of the most simple idea which could be a great subject and I have 3 days left including that day. So I went out and filmed during lesson and finished it later that day.  I didn't stick to the original ideas which I did the research on because of this issue but on the final ideas I've strictly stuck with the story board and the process of the stop motion animation.
despite the issue and mistake in the process during filming, the project management was poor but my time management and planning for each scene worked well and I was still able to finish 2 days before the deadline.

Feedback
After the deadline, we watched the film and received/gave feedback to each other on both positive and negative. On the feedback I received, most of the students and teachers liked the fact that the audio and action worked well together, with black and white but leaving the original colour of E4's logo and the creativity of easy subject. On the negative side the frame is shaking while tracking and it's not so smooth. However most people like the ideas of "drag race" and the way the E4 logo is presented at the at the end of the scene.

What have I learnt from this project.
As my project is on life action animation; I have learnt that the way to control people as objects can get frustrating as they won't able to understand you 100% .  Also, to come up with good ideas for life action animation of the impossible live movement and fit in 10 seconds, is not an easy thing to do even you plan it well. The rules and brief on the projects can cut down your creativeness; on this one it has to be 10 seconds exactly and it must have the E4 logo shown within that 10 seconds. This means the ideas have to fit in 10 seconds. There isn't time to make full sense in the scene to fit in the ideas.

 Would I taking animation further
To be truthful I've never been interested of working in animation as a career and now I've done some more of animation work including full production, paper work, editing, sound and filming, I've confirm that I'll never work for this industry. Animation as an industry isn't suitable for me at all as you have to be very patient for each movement which is not how I like to work.

DSLR test

DSLR test

This is a test on a DSLR camera. As a second year media student we've learnt how to used DSLR and all the settings on the camera to shoot the correct footage without using auto option.
As it's only a test and not being marked, I don't have to worry about the credits in the end of the scene. On this production I take part as a camera man and editor. (This is the first production I've worked using a DSLR camera)

Depict project - Story board

This is a story board for my depict 90 second short film project.

Story board for depict

This is my depict production project, this is the work that every group in my class (Media BTEC sub diploma, block C and D) has to spend the first week on. My group started on story boards and names for the 90 second short film. We did this by having an agreement and improving each shoot by going through it together as a group.

Depict paper work

This is a picture of props and all the paper work for my depict project 90 second short film, which also includes talent release, location release and risk assessment.

Depict paper work

These are photos of the important equipment we needed to use for our Depict 90 second short film. These glasses belong to Sean Offord , our media teacher as this glasses looks like Harry Potters. I believe these glasses will fit well in our film. I'm thankful that we are able to borrow these from him.

This wand belongs to Lauren and we are in the same group. As she is a Harry Potter fan we're lucky and this wand is called Elder Wand. We took 2 pictures each in a box and on the table but we found that keeping it in the box makes it look a lot more attractive.

Wizardry for dummies
There is a book for this shot but we didn't buy it as we have no budget so we created out own book instead by typing up "wizardry" and recovering the original title but left out the dummies part .This book is also very important in this scene as we used this to the start of the film. The story will really start to begin after he start reading this book. The character
has been given one of those Harry Potter fans who goes a little crazy in his head. As the book is not real we created a spell book and stuck it in somewhere in between the middle of this book. The page was designed to look old and goes well with the spell style, we also looked for the best type of letter and lay out and also side of the letter. I think we worked quite well on this.

These is a paper work for Risk- Assignment,  permission on the location and also agreement release for the actor to make sure that we do everything in order for our Depict project.

These are the pictures of the location ( East Norfolk Sixth Form College's library ) we are shooting in from different views. We worked on where the camera should go as it's a small room, so we have to make sure the location is suitable. However, after work out the location we designed to shoot in this place as this is the most suitable place in our college.

Proposal For Documentary

This is a proposal for my 3 minute wonder documentary film.

Proposal

Original ideas
At the very first start I had 3 ideas for my media text documentary style. My first idea is about ''adults with learning difficulties shows'' (seagull theatre in Lowestoft) which is about people with learning difficulties including autism, downs syndrome  who work as an actor/actress in this theatre (this film will mainly show about fact, opinion, process and improvement for those with learning difficulties).
The second idea which was suggested by the teacher is about me as a person from Thailand in the UK, which mainly focuses on me, including the way I feel living in the UK, how hard is it to change everything to fit in to the culture, my original every day life and my family back ground.
My third idea is about a teenager who was abused when he was a child which is my personal interest and I believe this should be exposed to the public. This is a very interesting idea, think it is one of the best ideas I have out of all. However after talk to my teacher (Ellie) she suggested that this topic will be very hard to create because I will need to cover up the person's identity and plus the time I'm given to create this video wont be enough, and to make this video I'll have to be very careful of what I am doing. After the suggestion I stuck with very first idea which was The Seagull Theatre because my second ideas have some of the personal issues of why I cant make it.
I chose number 1 - learing difficult and theatre
My documentary 3 minutes wonder ideas is about people who work with those who have learning difficulties at The Seagull Theatre in my area. From my research I have found a few interesting techniques that can be used in my documentary film, such as voice over to describe the situation but at the same time the character is talking,  and this way sound track can be used. This film will mainly focus on the feeling and process and what the staff love about their jobs. As those people with disability work at The Seagull Theatre this means I'll film behind the stage and in front of the stage if with the permission of the theatre and the people.
If possible I'll also interview the manage to get an in depth opinion of why he's running this theatre.
Purpose
The main purpose of this documentary  is to challenge the usual stereotypes about people with disability by focusing on the staff's opinion and experience. Without a story board, because this is a documentary style, I'll have to used recce techniques and decide where the camera can be put beforehand. To make this form of documentary successful I'll have to use mixture of different documentary techniques and styles but base it on observational documentary. This is special interest type of documentary also it's also my personal interest and I believe this assessment can be used as a opportunity for me to access the way this theatre's running and learn more about those people.
Target audience
From my primary research I believe my main target audience is a slightly older teenager to middle age between 18 - 50. However this means there will also be people of other ages that are interested in my documentary subject for example the age between 15-17 and 50+.  I also believe this subject can have a very wild range of audience including people who have disability in their family.
Location
I'll film at the seagull theatre in Lowestoft which is about 35 minutes walk from my house and this shouldn't make to much of a problem for me. I know one of the staff that work there very well and this will make it quite easy for me to access in the building (as the person I know has asked for permission for me).

Who will need to be in the scene
To make this scene successful I'll need to have the staff, those actor/actress with disability and even better with the manager to express their view and show the way they work in the film. In this project I'm working on my own so it will take less time to film because I wont need to make an agreement with other students. I can also design how I want it to be exactly and I will need to take part as a director and editor.
Interview
My idea in this film will mainly be 'talking heads', this means I'll need to provide the interviewee the questions and give them times to be able to think what they going to talk about. So the question for the actor, actress with disability is how they feel about working in The Seagull Theatre. The question for the staff will be about how they feel working with disabled people and what they love about it. If I can interview the head officer the question for him/her will be what is the purpose this theatre.
Props and budget
Props and costumes will be usual for every day life to make this documentary style narrative and look as normal as possible. This means I wont need to provide props but will need filming equipment e.g. camera, tripod etc. As I don't have any budget given to make this documentary so if I need anything in order to be able to created this documentary style  I'll have to spend my money.
Update after discussion with my teacher
I need to work out who I will focus the documentary on - In the documentary I'm not going to focus on one person, so I'll focus on the staff/disability people's feeling and the process that they are giving during the acting. The main point of this documentary is to show the main purpose of the theatre. By using mixture of documentary style filming and editing techniques I believe it will help to get to the audience 's emotion.

Screen Play Format

I took this screen play from the BBC writer room and writing in the box to show the format and lay out for the screen play. this screen play are for "Remember Me" with the genre of drama horror.

Good used of script writing!

A good development of character included inner presence, outer presence and context. These roles are to show the character's expression and in-depth about character.Outer present are showing the outer looks of the charter ; age, gender, clothing, grooming, style of speech and language. For example "In the next valley, a panting man in his 40's stares along the
towpath of the canal." This showing the age of the character.

(If you realize all the dialogue in this part of the the film; Hannah is singing Scarborough

Inner presence are showing the "dominant attitude" of the character created by their interior. This also include their intelligent, knowledge, personality temperament believe ,fear, goal ans self-image. Fore example "In the next valley, a panting man in his 40's stares along the towpath of the canal. Acting Detective Sergeant ROB FAIRHOLME is deep in painful thought, hardly noticing the beautiful
hills that surround him." ;this show that Rob Fairholme have a secret or something that's going on in his mind that usually wont be tell in the scene just yet. Sometime this can be hard to show by an act as the setting of camera and maybe music back ground included have to be perfect.

Context is a word of the character created by  their environment, relationship with friend, colleagues, their culture, their ethnicity, their class/education, where there bough up, their personal history or even their life. For example if the dialogue of Hanah was the speech instead of the sing i 'd believe that she been bought up back in the older day , white , middle age, middle education and working class background.

This is the very first scene direction from "Remember Me", the scene direction are written in the present tense. The words used to describe this scene are short but keeping a great values of imaginative.  "ROB FAIRHHOLME", The  name that is mentions in the scene direction is also using capital, therefore the reader don't get confuse; this scene direction are greatly following the structure of script writing. Also slug line are clearly describing the time when the scene 's set which show a  great structure of the begin of horror films.

This dialogue belong just after the scene direction that's I've analysed above. It's greatly following the structure of scrip writing; as the name of the character who's talking are right above it and also set in the center of dialogue. This dialogue can tell  a little bit about the character's class, personality and age; within 9 words! however this is a sentence in a song, with the lyric and music it's I would describe this as creepy.

2 short that I like

Beirut, I Love You (I Love You Not) is a ten minutes short, this film is one strange film that spread out big range of meaning which could related to love e.g. "lighting candles and blowing it right after", " smiling at stranger and see how they respond", "looking at the dead end that no one never notice"; what starts will ends, living every life forward the future, seeing someone in a different ways as everyone else. It's also an old styles, the scene are sets to looked like it's back in the olden days. Because of the music used in the scene at the beginning; if I close my eyes and just listen to the dialogue I would say this film is some how related to Weston genre. Even thought I could not understand the sound of dialogue, but still, the none digestive sound are able me to know what the film is basically talking about. The strange part which seem like there is nothing related to the scene is making the main part of the story stand out even more. This strange part in the middle of the scene is began when both of the main character meet which show the audience that every feeling that they could related to are running trough their mind when they meet the right person. My main reason why I like this scene is because it's showing a great used of non digestive sound and raise the action using mainly music back ground. It's also complicated to understands, theses technique that's show in this scene is very unusual.

Watch video - Vicky and Sam

Vicky and Sam is a ten minutes short, it's a short about making a short which is a simple ideas of film. However the used of camera techniques are perfect! Also the action in this film is very professional. What I like the most in this scene is the used of montage technique and the timing between 2 stories in the scene. Also the fact that one stories is hardly any dialogue and another is mainly using dialouge for the act.

Motivation of similar successful films

About Butterfly Effect

In chaos theory the definition of Butterfly Effects is the sensitive independence on the initial condition. Meaning that if there is a change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large difference in later state, in which I believe this is where the name of the film came from as I've watched this film and this is what it's about.

The Butterfly Effect is a science fantasy psychological thriller, the film received poor reception but was nevertheless commercial success. producing gross $96 million from a budget of $13 million.
The film also won the Pegasus Audience Award  and was nominated for best Science Fiction at the Saturn Awards and choice movies:thriller in Teen Choice Awards. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Butterfly_Effect

The main character in this scene is Evan Treborn  (play by John Patrick Amedori), The character who loss certain part of the memory in his child hood. As his child hood he's in love with Amy Smarts; the girl who play the main part of his motivation to time travel later in later state. Evan discovered that the loss his in his childhood is because in his adult hood he goes back to used his childhood body to change certain part in his future.

The Butterfly Effect (2004) Trailer

About- Heroes
Heroes is a TV series, it's about people who have the super human power, each have different power, e.g healing, flying, control of heat and fast as super sonic. But there is a guy who is able to space-time manipulation, Hiro Nakamura who were told by a leader of one supper human group, that if he want to change one thing then change one thing.
As this is a series so there is so many main character however there is the only 1 character that I' m interested in which is Hiro Nakamura. Hiro Nakamura are play by Masi Oka who's an American and Japanese actor. Hiro Nakamura is a fictional character he presses the ability to space - time manipulation. the name Hiro is short for Hiroshima in the series.
Hiro is an office worker specially level 3 programmer at Yamagato in Tokyo who were one day discovered the bend the space and time. He's also a fan of manga science fiction and supper heroes, However at the start Hiro is only able to speak Japanese and relying on his best friend Ando Mashahashi as an translator but as the series go on his English is developed.

About- About Time

About time is a romantic fantasy comedy-drama,  it's about a guy called Time which discover the family secret of time traveling. he's going to used this power to make his world better but it's not easy as you think; because sometime you can not change something with out consequences and sometime there's something that you couldn't change.

Tim (play by Domhnall Glesson) is a romantic and not so confident character because he is scared and worried that something may go wrong all the time. Then one day he discovered the power to time travel which make him a lot more confident then his actual self  because he know if he messes up he's able to change it as many as you want.

About Time trailer (2013)

What have I found after the research
1. All the main character is playing the roles of a nerdy romantic personality.
2. The motivation of those character is to make a brighter future with the love one.
3. Sometime there is a thing you could but it will be consequence but there is also something that you cant.
4. If you change the past the future will also change; whether it's a good or bad.
5. Sometime it's better to enjoy present because the will future could be worse.
6.Theses kind of story could be happening any where.

Audience Research
Quantitative
I used the interview to find out the interest of target audiences by asking 15 people their age, gender and tell them about my story using the log line and what will happen. Most of them say if the story is well planned and if there is not any gap of mistake to be question they will like the film. However there is not many fan of a time traveling genre type but they are interested in the romantic and drama side of the film. From the interview data the rate out of then form the film is based around 7, surprisingly it's very close to both films I've research above. Some of them say they like the fact that it's straight forwards but also leave  some of the complication stereotype of science fiction genre.

Note
People the age of 18 and above are mostly interested in my film but rest not into Romantic, science fiction type.

The rate out of 10 for the film is 7

More then half of my target audience is female, "I like the romantic and drama side"

Feed back from the Pitch
Most of people like the ideas but it's hard to imagine as it seems complicated and the transition on the traveling back in time have to be something more creative; in which I change it to the stop watch.
Filming night time going to be hard and the actor/actress have to be great to created to emotion and pass it to the audiences. Having full story of time traveling in ten minutes seem impossible.

Why did i chose to write science fiction genre?
I have always been interested in the thought of being able the change the past, being able to go back in time to change certain mistake if life and here is this film call  "The Butterfly Effects". This film show me that you shouldn't, if there is one distraction on the past it will determine a large change in different state. The changing and the large change in later state when they is a distraction always going the get worse. However there is one TV series that i just finished watched recently call Heroes and on one of the episode they is a part where one character is talking to other character who's a time traveller, he says to the time traveller "if you want to change one thing, then change one thing" within an act that he throw a ball to the stacking up cup and only one that fall off. and this give me an ideas that I could make a scene that fit in 10 minutes but montage technique will be used quite a lot.
However both of the film used a lot of effects on the traveling point; where the character is going back in time. Which mean if am going to make it, it will take mounts. but then there is a film call "about time " which is the only film that I find easy to set up while filming and don't used any effect while  traveling in time. and it would work to be a  low budget film.
Still, the thought of making a full science fiction movies would no way being a great story in 10 minutes so I used the romantic and drama side to add in the scene, in fact the motivation for these this movies I mentioned are also using romantic and drama as it's motivation.

The Pre-Production Process

This is a research on different type of the moving images production which also include all the broadcaster law and clear understanding of creating moving images text in professional way.

The Pre-Production Process Requirements for a Moving Image Production

My media group have produced a 90 second short film within the project of Depict and  distributed it using one of the well known website "YouTube".

Different type of media production
There are many types of moving image media production that are well known around the world which also have a different process and content and having a different group of audience for example short film, Feature film, music video etc.  There are few different ways  to distribute these type of media text which suggesting the audience in the different way  for example, TV (almost every one in  the UK has television and some like to watch the advert of each production), poster(some people are more interesting about picture and wording ), electric moving screen (other type advertising which usually get a lot people to notice as these usually been put some on the place where people can notice and spend free time on), YouTube and any other type of website (YouTube and other video website can get particular audience as YouTube or other social network website can get the individually that are already interest in some specific type of media text, also social network like Facebook are also free to distribute the any type of media text but sometime can be remove if it's against copyright).

Earn money from the production
A good way of being able to make money from a production is to seek funding.  Funding is when you earn money by pitching a media product to investors in return for a financial contribution towards the production. For example in the UK there is lottery funding available for talented film makers to develop and progress with their productions. Although, funding is limited with 20-25 awards each year, new and established film makers both have equal opportunities to gain funding. This is a good way for film makers to fund their productions and can upgrade the types of locations, props and actors they use.(Source: http://www.bfi.org.uk/film-industry/lottery-funding-development-production) one of the film that made by funding and success is Man on wire made in 2008.

In the big action e.g. famous or a well known film like Hollywood film will go thought he process of selling it to the company and it's will be show on the cinema, pay per view and the DVD are available to buy when it's release.
Another source of income can be from a goods production companies. The goods production company will contact the film and agree on the contract. For example advertising products for corporations by having their product in your moving images production(film), for example Heineken paid $45 million to have their beer appear in  Skyfall 007 withing the main character drinking it. (James bond movie (source: http://www.livescience.com/24957-james-bond-product-placement.html).
however these type of advertising usually only available for a famous or well known film.

This generates awareness of their product and earns production company large sources of income. You can also earn money by selling(contracted) your character images or brand's name picture to companies for example, if a clothes company wants to make a t-shirt using  Ben 10 and other character's picture on a t-shirt  they will have to pay for it, this known as licensing deals which usually referred to the copyright's law. The copyright law is the law that prevent an ideas that are contracted from being copy or shown in another way without any agreement with the original creator which is not only referring to media production but it's include other type of production e.g. book, images, music, song.

Although, this can be a good source of income for a production company. Sony/ ATV one of the largest music publishers has recently challenged song lyric website 'Rap Genius' by claiming they are using lyrics which are the property of Sony. However they can also lose money by not following the correct procedures.

Finance
There are a lot of things you might have to pay for in order to make your moving image production for example Props. Props are any item that is used in the moving images type of media (scene) for example, costume, guns, cars, food and drink(in the scene), books, pens and phones.
You will also need to paid the actors , camera team , editor, director ,location , drink and food (outside scene), electricity, makeup artist for the actors and also the music and sound track. However, by asking friends or people you known to help out in the productions can save costs, this content also known as lower budgets. Another option to consider is contacting local drama classes, colleges and schools and speak to aspiring actors/actress's who may be looking to gain experience in a production. The website 'Gumtree' is a good place to post free adverts where you could look for cast and crew members to be in a production. (Source: www.gumtree.com).
The costs of public transport and/or petrol have to be taken into consideration and would have to be drawn up in a budget sheet. In another side my group have to obtain low cost equipment by borrowing it from college as media students have opportunity to be able to borrow equipment for the project or course work as we wont be able to have any funding in this production. The equipment that we are able to borrow are costume, video camera, microphone and other basic equipment for film maker. We also used some of the props that we already have and we did borrowing certain object we need from friends, teacher parent etc. to save the cost e.g. Harry Potter's wand and clothes. We have also been investigating on who should be taking part to play each character.  However we can only use our friends who are available in the period of time that we about to begin filming, this also mean they are viewing to do it too.
We have to gain the permission to shoot in the certain place to be able to do it in order of an instruction of our project, in this case we chose East Norfolk Sixth Form College's Liberally.

Different type of moving images.
The make up of typical team for moving images production are split up in mainly three type,
Low budget short ,
TV program and Holly wood feature film.

Low budget short/
Lowe budget film can be done by having friends or the people you know as actors/actress and used the equipment and props that you already have. Location and place in each shot are also very important to make low Budget film as certain place like studio, certain companies belonging or the main road can be a huge cost. On another hand location like your own house or public place that would not cost any money for example in the wood, sea side and certain park, however this might required a permission.
 Holly wood feature film
Hollywood feature films cost a lot of money to make, they could spend up to billion pound/dollars to be able to complete the project. This including paying for actors to match the character (holly wood actor cost a lot), make up artist, equipment, camera team, editor, directors electric, studio, music, copy right etc. Also in certain movie story line they have to damn the car or blew it up which cost a lot e.g. Skyfall 007. Some people might say that make up is not so important. I believe that they wrong as one of the best example Holly wood movies that used a lot of make up for actors in the scene is  ''Pirates of the Caribbean'' which is one of successful holly wood film.

Eastenders: British television soap opera
TV program
In the middle of both low budget short films and Hollywood movies there is a television  program. Television programs are very different to both of them as television program have the longer period of time , some program can go along for years when Hollywood movies along for 1-3 hour and Short film goes on for 1-40 minutes for each (usually). Some television program that is well known in England is Eastenders. This television program start  in 19 February 1985 ''EastEnders is a British television soap opera, first broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC One on 19 February 1985'' (source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EastEnders) and still on in these days (15/11/2013). The cost of television program is not low as low budget film  as high as Hollywood movies, this flow some where between low budget film and Hollywood film as the actors normally not a Hollywood actors and also the effect on this is normally not at great as Hollywood films.
However they will still need to pay for the equipment, props and every else as the same Hollywood film, this including actors but the cost will depending on the deal they make with the team, equipment company and the actors/actress. One of the highest paid actor in this  program is  Barbara Windsor (Peggy Mitchell 1995-2010) 360,000 a year by 2006(source :http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/article-1721352/Who-is-the-richest-EastEnders-star.html). Even know she get paid that much but  this is nothing when compare to Hollywood start like Johnny Depp, he earn 50 million dollars to his credit for every movie.

On the reflection as our group is a small group we only have 3 members in the group so we have to allocated work by looking at who is the best for each part and which piece of work,  this also mean we work in a group and help out each other  and after we done our work we show it to another member of our team for an agreement and opinion to improve our project. We mainly have 3 main piece of assignment to do which is paper work  (including shot and  time, actors and also permission on the location area), camera work , and editing. I mainly do the editing with some help off teacher and one of the team member and 2 of my team doing the camera work and paperwork. All of my team members including me have some experience of making short film as before this project we have made one of the similar type of short film. However sometime we do find it difficult to understand what other members of the team thinking but we mange to finish it in the end when everyone is happy with the result.

What is location recce
Location recce is when the media team investigation on each place and looks around to make sure weather the location is suitable and  after the media team design to to shoot in certain location ; they need to ask for the permission from the owner before they starts shooting but if they wanted to shoot in the public they have to ask for the permission from the local police. However it may cost to shoot in certain place including public and private.

The location area for my production
My group have chosen to shoot in east Norfolk sixth from college's library as this is the best location for our film as our film have to be shoot in place where there is a lot of books and this need to be small corner. Also there are hardly any one will go to look for the books in this section.
However this is not the only reason we shoot in the college area, the main reason for this is the equipment and pros are only allow to be borrowed allow the college (as we have not sign a for of insurance of the college just yet) area and the other reason for this is my group live quite always to each other so we can't manned to meet up after college and the last reason for this is the location release or in the other words the permission to shoot in the location are easy to get (this is one of the very fist film too so we don't know much about how those work). This will be a lot harder to do. As the East Norfolk College area is the studying area so the student or teacher would differently knows what we doing when they see just walking around holding video camera.

Issue in our production
As we starts shooting there is some issue that we have to face and the first issue for this is as to area we used to shoot is too small so we have to be very careful on our camera work. The second issue for this is lighting as  some shoot catch more light then other does by the camera angle while we using to get a different type of shoot. Other issue for this is the effect on the editing as in one of the special effect using green screen, this take us a long time to be able to fixed it out. However with the help of our teacher we manned it to be done perfectly on the green screen effect on the editing problem and also by re-shot some shot.

The effect on out production and copyright
in the professional level, to be able to completed or make a great moving image text you may need to addition equipment, crew and cast these can be obtain by hire or buy from the companies or you can either borrow it from friend and used some of the equipment that you already have this including Props, actors and extra in certain product you might have to make it your self or either ask for the company to do it for example soundtrack and music. However there is a financial consideration when you used certain materials known as copy right, also you must to be very careful while using certain product as you could be find if you break the copyright law.
The current act in the copyright in design and patterns is in 1988  to protect the musical,  actor/actress , sound according , artistic and film, In many case the creator have the right to unidentified thief his work, this laws  give the protection to most of the country subject to the national laws. However if you have the permission to used certain products from the owner then this is in the legal case but in another side if you doesn't follow the instruction or the deals with the owners of the production then this would turn into an illegal case.

Copy right effect our  Depict production  because we don't allow certain product and materials in our scene unless if we ask for the permission. However this could take times so we decide to recorded our own sound track and the voice over. In order to show our film clearance is vital to make sure that we have permission to use the material in our production. However, before you start you must ensure that public liability insurance is taken out in case of any accidents which could cause damage to any property through the actions of the cast and crew. In professional productions it is quite often likely to be covered for £5 million. (Source: http://industry.bfi.org.uk/filminsurance)

OFCOM
The OFCOM established the body of the communication in 2002 and developed using that communication act in 2003, the wireless telegraphy in act in 2006, broadcasting acts in 1990 and 1996, the digital economy act 2010 and the portal service in 2011to develop it self  OFCOMis a communications regulator that deregulates  TV and radio sector, fixed line telecoms and also taking care of airwaves with wireless device operate. OFCOM look after TV and radio service and given the high range qualities to the public in the UK. OFCOM also taking control of the content service all over the UK. BBFC
BBFC is short fore British Board of Film Classification and Theatre Union it's the company that  taking control over age guideline on film production. BBFC also employ wide rang of staff including film and video examiner, IT and techniques. Almost of the time you see these logo of age on the back of the DVD and sometime in the cinema just before to film started. it's also have around 25000 members who work for broadcasting ,film
theatre, entertainment, leisure, leisure and interactive media.

Trade associations
Trade associations are important to any industry as this is a connection between companies and organisations. There for keeping industry professionals up to date with the latest news and information in that order. This is important for the Media industry as technology is always improving and it is important to keep up to date in to stay ahead of the competition.
After the research (trade associations within the Media industry), Association of Motion Picture Sound this is an organisation that helps different level of experience membership to be able to keep in touch with (professional) members. That way it allowed them to aware of the technology that improving and keep themselves up to date .

BECTU
After looking up other associations, I came across BECTU (Broadcasting, Entertainment, Cinematography and Theatre Union) and they focus more on giving advice to professionals in the industry. They are trying to stand up for the employees’ rights and ensuring they are paid and treated in the right way.   On reflection, the time that was given isn’t long enough (three weeks) to create this production.

Conclusion
Our group needed more time to create and develop our ideas to make the project and by the time we finish developing our Idea, it didn't leave long to produce the great film. From my research I have also found out that a more professional production company would have created a production schedule allocating the time to certain project, task. In a professional production, it is very important to keep to a production schedule because it will cost the organisation money, For example, if we are paying for the team, actors, location, etc. Then we don’t finish in the time allocated, it will cost the company to hire the same people for a longer period. Not only this but its not very professional to not give the team a schedule indicating when they will be needed and you will lose contacts that could help you in the industry. In class we met our deadlines but we get less helped by the absence of a member of the team which made the job harder.

Documentary Evaluation

This is an independent projects in the name of "3 minutes wonder" I've created and taken part as the producer, editor, camera team and the organizer for the rest of this assignment which also chosen to be in BBC young film maker and screen at Norwich city's cinema.

Documentary Evaluation

What is 3 minutes wonder

This is a 3 minutes wonder topic documentary, the titles of 3 minutes wonder belongs to Channel 4, They are for budding the new director who cant yet have the opportunity to make the film for broadcast, 3 minutes wonder is the chance for those to become something more then a new director. 3 minutes wonder is a 3 minutes opportunity for those who could become a famous and well known director.

Documentary Style and the reason of why I chose this topic
As  it's documentary most people have a different interest within the topic. So, on this particular topic we have a choice whether we can work in a group of 2 or you can work on your own. I chose to work on my own as I have the ideas and the picture in my head of what I want this documentary to become. My documentary style is observational which means it's an observation of a certain topic to get the in depth information that are important (the main point of the documentary. In this case my topic for this documentary is people with learning disabilities (FABBA). This scene is about people with learning disabilities who joined a community drama group at the local place (The Seagull Theatre in Lowestoft). The topic of people with leaning difficulties and The Seagull Theatre is a personal interest of mine, but it's not just that. it's a local community  group for those people with learning disabilities to be able to develop their communication skills and other life skills that are needed to live in society. Seagull Theatre is a local community that is needed, but people who live around the area seem to not give enough interest to this important community. It's a small place which is important for the life of those people who are ignored by the public. So, this documentary is a way of presenting an in depth information to the local area. This project (film) is another way of showing that you can actually go out and talk to the head office  (manager) to get the permission.

Camera work
Most of the camera work used in the scene is still, zoom in and tilt to make the scene look serious and formal. There are two pieces of equipment that are used to film this scene which is tripod and video camera which I borrowed from the college.
While doing the observation I ask the interviewee (the organiser) to add in more information about the drama group in every possible side she can. I also ask a wardrobe women who work as a volunteer for this particular group to be in this documentary using her fact, opinion her experience about the drama group(FABBA).  Within a very welcome from the manager and staffs, am able to access around the areas and certain rooms which given me a an opportunity  to recorded while those actor are practicing the show.

Sounds
The sound used in the scene is the original sound from the community while filming, for example the music (we will rock you, written by Brain May and performed by the famous band around 1970's ''Queen'') is played while they performing.
In certain parts of the scene some of the interview video can't be used because of the noise in the back ground because this would make the film looks un professional. In certain audio are great but not the best for the documentary when it come with the moving images(clip) in the original video. So on the edit I move the audio away from the clip slightly in certain way which would not be notices by the audiences or even putting different audio and clip together to keep the scene interesting. I have to be very careful in this part to make it un notice able. However in the end I don't used any sound effect e.g. make it echo, put it to the left or right (sound effect) The only thing I did to the sound editing is make it higher (loud) or lower (quiet)  using volume line on the editing program.

Editing
On the editing points I used the formal techniques that I found within the secondary research e.g. cut to interview, I used these techniques on certain part of the clip because the information that are given are not important to the title of the scene. I did this by putting certain clips on top the cutting point this is the way to hide the cut part. On the certain clip are none-disguising, it's just a main part cut from the scene(the interview of the wardrobe women).
I found those techniques by looking trough certain video on You tube and other documentary scene. I also used 3rd graphic on the name text of each person I interview as this make it look better then using the original editing program. I used light blue because it's look formal( as you often seen this colour within the name text in the news and other serious documentary, this colour also make it  easier to read.

Mise-en-sene
On the used of mise-en-sene are just clothes that those interviewee is wearing, and other equipment like cloth (on the wardrobe women scene), sofa for her to sat on while being interview other then that is the black ground which is already there and other then that is equipment which is tripod and camera which I borrowed from the college.
The make of this film are low cost or in another words it's cost of nothing as camera I am able to borrow it from the college, the travel cost is not included because I have bus part and those interviewee are happy to help me to complete this project.

Conclusion
There is a certain part that I'm not quite happy about which is the interview of the actors James and Jake, the camera work is poor because it cut out half of his head, On the other hand this mistake compiles to advantages as it is able to show more emotion on their face. However this is still included as a mistake, on the professional this scene are not acceptable. My Other  mistake is the interview from William; I should of used the close up shot in to his face the get the full emotion and his facial expression. In the end of the result as this is the third project I ever made I am quite happy with this scene.
